The events of 2014 and 2022 have clearly shown that Putin’s ultimate goal is the conquest of the whole of Ukraine \u2014 and beyond that, a march on Europe. If some in the West have not yet realised this, it may soon come to pass that these so-called “peacemakers” will be welcoming Russian tanks on the banks of the Rhine, the Seine, and the English Channel.<\/p>\n
The Russians, in justifying their territorial claims, attempt to apply a historical approach \u2014 one that is in fact unproductive and, in terms of modern international law, entirely inadmissible. But what would happen if Ukraine were to take the same route?<\/p>\n
Let us start with Crimea. It is well known that this peninsula was once under the protectorate of Turkey. Today, both in Crimea and in Turkey, many Crimean Tatars live who do not recognise the occupation of the peninsula by Russia and do not wish to live under Russian jurisdiction.<\/p>\n
So, what would happen if Ukraine entered into a military-political alliance with Turkey, which possesses the second strongest army in NATO? Is such a scenario realistic? Absolutely. The Crimean Tatar factor plays a significant role in the politics of both Ukraine and Turkey. These two nations share a direct interest in this matter, and thus a Ukrainian-Turkish alliance is entirely plausible.<\/p>\n
Another argument in favour of this possible course of events is that Turkey has long been a strategic competitor of Russia and has no interest in seeing Russia grow stronger at Ukraine’s expense.<\/p>\n
Let us develop the idea of a military-political alliance between Turkey and Ukraine further. It is known that Turkey has its own interests in the Caucasus. What if the Turks supported the idea of de-occupying Ichkeria and liberating other Muslim regions of the North Caucasus from Russian colonial dependence?<\/p>\n
Given the current circumstances, such a development is quite realistic. Ukraine, too, could have its own interests in this region \u2014 for example, laying claim to Kuban.<\/p>\n
Through joint efforts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Turkish military, it may be possible to defeat the Russian forces relatively quickly, despite their possession of nuclear weapons. If things were to escalate to extremes, both Ukraine and Turkey already possess effective strike capabilities that could neutralise Russian nuclear missiles on their launch pads.<\/p>\n
Of course, all of the above is merely one of many possible scenarios, but it is based on historical facts and is logically grounded. Therefore, the longer the Russian-Ukrainian war continues, the more potential scenarios and political-legal outcomes for its resolution will emerge.<\/p>\n
