In February 2022, Ukraine became the focus of attention of the world’s leading political players. Well-known international experts predicted that the Russians would be able to capture Kyiv within 3 days, but as we can see, the Russian-Ukrainian armed confrontation has been going on for more than three years, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been quite successful in repulsing the enemy\u2019s attacks.<\/p>\n
Of course, it would be difficult for Ukraine to fight Russia without large-scale international support, but we must admit that the main burden in this war still lies on Ukraine\u2019s shoulders.<\/p>\n
It is also worth reminding that during the first two months we were practically face-to-face with the enemy, and assistance from foreign partners began to arrive only after the Ukrainian Armed Forces proved their effectiveness on the battlefield.<\/p>\n
We should also pay special attention to the role of the administration of US President Joe Biden. By his behavior, he made it clear to Putin that Russia could freely attack Ukraine. Only under pressure from public opinion was the Biden administration forced to provide assistance to Ukraine, although it did so rather sluggishly, significantly delaying the supply of weapons and ammunition and limiting their use.<\/p>\n
With the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States, the country\u2019s policy toward Ukraine has not changed significantly. Perhaps that is why Democrats today hardly criticize Trump\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n
This can be explained by the fact that both US administrations do not want Russia to lose the war with Ukraine. Rather, they hope that in the near future, Russia may become America\u2019s ally in its confrontation with China. But there are serious doubts that this calculation has any prospects. At one time, the United States made a strategic mistake when Henry Kissinger helped revive the PRC, hoping that China would become a counterweight to the USSR. We all know how that turned out. Now, history could repeat itself again if Trump allows Putin to revive the USSR or create a new Russian Empire. There is no doubt that then the United States will have another strong and quite influential competitor in the international arena, in addition to China.<\/p>\n
Putin has made no secret of his desire to restore Russia\u2019s power and influence in the world, and it is now clear that it is for this purpose that he wants to conquer Ukraine.<\/p>\n
In the current situation, in order to preserve its independence and state sovereignty, Ukraine must change the priorities of its foreign policy.<\/p>\n
It is well known that Turkey and the EU are extremely disinterested in strengthening Russia at the expense of Ukraine. They are influential geopolitical players and are directly interested in ending the armed confrontation that has been going on for the fourth year in the center of Europe and establishing lasting peace and stability in the Baltic-Black Sea-Caspian region.<\/p>\n
If the potentials of Ukraine, Turkey, and the EU are combined, and their actions are coordinated, this result can be achieved quite quickly. Then the Russian Federation will be forced to stop this war and will give up further implementation of its aggressive plans, as its leadership will already be thinking about its own security, not about conquering Ukraine and creating a new Russian Empire.<\/p>\n
